The Old Guild Hall, Bodmin
The Old Guildhall on Fore Street, Bodmin dates back to the early 16th Century. At this time the building was mainly used for Town Council meetings. As the years past the introduction of the Magistrates Court to the building came into force and this continued for many, many years. Eventually the court ceased and the building fell into a dilapidated condition, so in 1908 the then present Mayor, George Coad Carpanter, gave a generous gift and refurbished the building throughout.
In July 1983 Malcolm Barnecutt Bakery purchased the property and used the building for a bakery shop at the front and restaurant in the chambers behind. Very little has changed within and the décor and ambience can still be experienced today. We invite you to come in for a lunch or just a coffee and indulge yourself in the historic surroundings.
